Being SMART

We use the acronym SMART when guiding our clients towards the fulfilment of their goals. It stands for Specific / Measured / Achievable / Realistic / Time based. 

Guiding clients takes expertise so the advisors at BD Wealth Management have UK qualifications and receive ongoing professional development. The aim is to ensure the best independent unbiased advice and a level of service that ensures that we have SMART clients.

Being Specific

As the saying goes “you can eat an elephant one bite at a time” Sometimes clients realise their predicament and want to over commit to programs for the future.  For example a 40 year old, with no savings, wanting to retire at 60 and having the probability of living to 80 has 240 pay days to retirement and then 240 months without earnings. 

The advisors at BD Wealth Management can help their clients manage this predicament by being conservative in affordability and risk assessment.

Being Measured

Most people we meet have a vague idea of what they would like to happen in the future. How they are going to get there is another issue! Sometimes there is a plan, mostly an inadequate series of ideas and occasionally, worryingly, a complete dependence on luck.

The advisors at BD Wealth Management are trained to help our clients put their finger on what they want and how they are going to achieve it.

Being Achievable

Sometimes clients have unrealistic expectations of the financial market. The market does not allow for high returns with no risk and instant access!

The BD Wealth Management advisor takes into account the client circumstances, finds the best the market has to offer, then manages expectations by 'under-promise and over deliver' rather than the other way around.

Being Realistic

Good advice looks at what a client can do and what they can’t. Management of expectations and applying a “do what you can now” philosophy is behind much good advice.

In 2010 the directors of BD Management came together to make into reality the type of industry that others in the business had wished for, but had neither the experience nor capability to actually make happen. This required, as is so much in life, to be able to deal efficiently with competing factors. The first is to hold with a vice like grip to the traditional values that are needed to help clients see solutions in an understandable way; to help them develop, maintain and grow their wealth and to value service to all - wealthy and financially struggling - as an ethos.

The second factor was to use technology to do the work (so that we were released to do more of the first factor) and not to drown in a sea of paperwork, compliance and regulation. Developing our own technology for this made us truly paperless and enables our advisors to service our clients no matter where either are in the world.

This predictably has meant that we have grown. Our clients are referring people to us, while others seek us out as how we work, communicate service and assist becomes more discussed. Advisors too, seeking a better way, are coming to join us.

As a company we are ambitious. We want to deliver what we have - great methodology, great potential, great service to our clients, vendors and advisors within our framework of being professional, profitable, ethical and having fun.
